Automated SEO Health Report Tool: What to Include
An automated SEO health report tool should answer 3 client questions: what's broken, what changed, who fixes it. What to include and how to automate it.
An automated SEO health report tool gathers a site's technical health data on a schedule (speed scores, Core Web Vitals, on-page issues, rankings) and sends it to the client as a finished report, without anyone assembling it by hand. The automation is the easy part. What makes a health report worth sending is what's in it: it should answer three questions, in this order. Is anything broken? Is it better or worse than last time? Who's fixing what? In DFY Hub, the weekly website scan runs on every plan, and branded client reports with scheduled delivery are part of Full Stack at $399/mo per client.

The reader changed, so the report has to
For years, an SEO health report was written by an SEO for an SEO. It listed every Lighthouse diagnostic, every missing alt tag, every redirect chain, and it sat in a shared drive until the next audit. If you've suspected clients never read past the first page, you were right.
Automating delivery changes who reads it. Once a report goes out on a schedule, the person opening it is the client, often an owner reading on a phone between jobs. They don't know what Cumulative Layout Shift is, and they shouldn't have to.
That's the shift that matters. Most automated health reports still look like the old technical audit, just sent more often. No wonder so many get ignored. Sending the old audit more often doesn't make it more useful. Rewriting it for the person who actually reads it does.
The three questions a health report has to answer
1. Is anything broken? Put this first, as a short status block. One line per area (speed, on-page, rankings, local), marked good, watch or fix. If nothing's broken, say so in plain words. "Nothing needs fixing this month" is a sentence clients love reading.
2. Better or worse than last time? Compare against the previous report and against the baseline you took when you started the account. A single snapshot can't tell a client whether your work is landing. Two can. The Automated Business Health Audit: From Snapshot to Trend post makes the case for a day-one baseline on the operations side, and the same logic holds for site health.
3. Who's fixing what? End with a short action list. Every item gets an owner (your team, the client or the client's developer) and a target date. This is the section clients actually act on, and the one most automated reports leave out.
What belongs in each section
| Section | Include | Leave out |
|---|---|---|
| Speed | Pass or fail against Google's Core Web Vitals thresholds, plus the Lighthouse performance score and its change | The full list of Lighthouse diagnostics |
| On-page | How many on-page warnings, and the two or three that matter | A 100-line checklist |
| Rankings | Map-pack and organic positions for the keywords that bring in calls | Every keyword you track |
| Traffic | Visits and Search Console clicks, compared with last period | Every page's traffic |
| Local | Geo-grid Average Rank Position and Share of Local Voice, review count | Raw grid data |
| Actions | Three fixes, each with an owner and a date | Everything you could fix someday |
My one strong opinion here: report Core Web Vitals as pass or fail, not as raw numbers. Google's thresholds (Largest Contentful Paint of 2.5 seconds or less, Interaction to Next Paint of 200 milliseconds or less, Cumulative Layout Shift of 0.1 or less) give the client a clear line. "Your homepage passes" means something to an owner. "LCP 2.3s" doesn't.
How to automate delivery in DFY Hub, plan by plan
Not every plan produces a client-facing report, so here's what each one gives you.
Starter (free, one business). Every Saturday (early morning UTC), DFY Hub scans the homepage for Lighthouse scores, lab Core Web Vitals (Largest Contentful Paint and Cumulative Layout Shift), on-page warnings and the tech stack. You see the results on the dashboard. That's monitoring for your team, not a report for the client.
Local Dominator ($99/mo per client). Adds weekly keyword rank tracking (map pack and organic, every Sunday), geo-grid scans you trigger, review monitoring and the Google Listing NAP Check. That's the data for the rankings and local sections.
Growth Engine ($199/mo per client). Adds website traffic and Search Console reports, which fill the traffic section.
Full Stack ($399/mo per client). This is where delivery is automated. The Client Reporting Portal builds branded PDF reports with an AI executive summary, creates share links clients open without logging in, and sends reports on a schedule. Rankings feed these reports directly. Website Health is one of the 14 report sections, carrying the latest homepage scan's Lighthouse scores, Core Web Vitals and letter grade. Report emails come from DFY Hub's address, with your logo on the PDF.
The caveat: scheduled reports send themselves
Scheduled reports in DFY Hub go out automatically on their date. There's no review step.
That's convenient, and it means the human check has to happen before the send date, not after. Put a recurring task on your team's calendar a day or two before each client's report goes out. Read the status block, check the action list still makes sense, and fix anything the data can't know (the client paused a service, the developer is mid-rebuild). The Automated SEO Reports With AI Summaries, Explained post covers why the written summary deserves that read in particular.
One limit to state in the report itself
DFY Hub's weekly scan covers the homepage. It doesn't crawl inner pages, and it doesn't watch uptime or send alerts. So label the speed section "Homepage health" rather than "Website health." Otherwise a client assumes the whole site was checked, and the first time a service page breaks, your report looks like it missed something it never claimed to check.
When a client needs inner pages covered, run them on demand. DFY Hub's SEO MCP tools include on-page analysis and Lighthouse audits for any URL, run from an assistant like Claude and billed in credits. Paste the results into the action list by hand. For the local checks that sit next to site health in most reports, see Local SEO Audit Tool: The 3 Checks That Matter. And for the monitoring side, the version your team watches between reports, see the website health monitoring tool post.
Frequently asked questions
What should an SEO health report include?
A client-facing SEO health report should answer three questions in order: is anything broken, is it better or worse than last time, and who's fixing what. In practice that means a short status block, speed results as pass or fail against Core Web Vitals thresholds, the few on-page issues that matter, rankings for the keywords that bring calls, and an action list with owners and dates.
How often should an SEO health report go to a client?
Monthly works for most local service clients. It matches how owners think about their marketing spend, and with weekly data collection underneath, each monthly report carries four readings per metric instead of one. Weekly reports tend to show noise, like small Lighthouse swings between runs, that worries clients without giving them anything to do. Keep weekly checks for your own team.
Can DFY Hub send SEO health reports automatically?
Yes, on the Full Stack plan at $399/mo per client. The Client Reporting Portal sends branded PDF reports and share links on a schedule. Scheduled reports go out automatically with no review step, so someone on your team should read each one before its send date. The emails come from DFY Hub's address, and your agency logo appears on the PDF.
Does DFY Hub's health check cover the whole website?
No. The weekly scan, which runs early every Saturday (UTC) on every plan, checks the homepage: Lighthouse scores, lab Core Web Vitals, on-page warnings and tech stack detection. It doesn't crawl inner pages. Agencies can check other pages on demand through DFY Hub's SEO MCP, which runs on-page analysis and Lighthouse audits for any URL from an assistant like Claude, billed in credits.
